Leadership Principles

Leadership: 1. the position of guidance of a leader. 2. the ability to lead. This is the dictionary definition of "Leadership." It is simple, precise, and emotionless. It does not care whether you are a Great Leader. It does not care if you are a poor leader. A leader just is...

It is not important what kind of leader YOU think you are. It's  the kind of leader that your people think you are that will determine the measure of your effectiveness.

For me, there is a certain responsibility that comes with the title of "Leader". A leader is someone who inspires others to challenge themselves to grow. Someone who has a definate vision that is shared by all, who is steadfast in a worthy cause and who's excitement for the purpose at hand (whatever it happens to be) is contagious.

In the world in which we live today the need for strong leadership has never been higher. There are constant forces at work that make it very difficult to remember the greater good that we as individuals can bring.
"The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people, but to ellicit it, for the greatness is already there."John Buchan

This is such a great post. I love how you say that leadership does not care about you personally... it just is. Keep 'em coming!
